Sarah Hyland has been sued by her one-time manager Richard Konigsberg, who says she owes him money after letting him go after working together 15 years this past April.
Konigsberg said he was essential to helping Hyland, 33, land the role of Haley Dunphy on the ABC series Modern Family from 2009-2020, TMZ reported after reviewing court documents.
Konigsberg told the court he said he feels the New York City native let him go in ‘an attempt to get out of paying him his 10 percent commission’ for multiple projects he helped her sign onto.
Konigsberg said he and the actress – who has also appeared in the 2022 comedy My Fake Boyfriend and on the Peacock series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin – had in place a longstanding agreement in which he collected 10 percent of what she earned.
Royalties from Modern Family were part of that equation, Konigsberg told the court, and Hyland paid them up until she let him go earlier this year, telling him she would no longer pay 10 percent on the royalties stream.

Hyland agreed to pay Konigsberg 10 percent of her earning for her work in an off-Broadway rendition of Little Shop of Horrors playing the part of Audrey, who actress Ellen Greene portrayed in the 1986 film.
Konigsberg requested the court grant a declaration locking Hyland into paying the 10 percent of monies she had agreed upon from the work he helped her acquire.
Last month, Hyland celebrated her second wedding anniversary to spouse Wells Adams, 40, who rose to prominence appearing on ABC’s The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.
Adams and Hyland exchanged vows in August of 2022 at the Sunstone Winery which is close to Santa Barbara, California, with her Modern Family costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson officiating the nuptials.
A number of Hyland’s other costars from the hit ABC series were among the 150 guests in attendance, including Sofía Vergara Vergara, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould.
Adams and Hyland initially emerged as a couple in October of 2017, a few months after she parted ways with Shadowhunters actor Dominic Sherwood after more than two years together.
She opened up in a May appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark about how Adams has encouraged her to embrace the stage role in Little Shop of Horrors.
‘I don’t do the Ellen Greene accent from the film … and my husband was asking me on the phone, “Hey, how do you do it? Like, do it for me!”‘ Hyland said. ‘So I gave him a little preview, over the phone, of the accent.’

She noted that Adams responded with ‘the wildest reaction [she] could have imagined’ and told her that her doing the role was ‘going to be very sexual for’ him.
‘He was like, “It’s like my wife is doing Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny and it’s very hot.”‘
Adams on June 7 took to Instagram with what he called an ‘appreciation post’ for his ‘extremely talented wife’ amid her latest endeavor on stage, saying her ‘portrayal of Audrey in @littleshopnyc is perfection.’
He said that ‘the acting, the singing, the dancing, the comedy, the pain, the everything is astounding.’
He praised her costar Andrew Barth Feldman as ‘unbelievably flawless as Seymour,’ adding, ‘Together they are stunning.’
He wrapped up in saying, ‘Run don’t walk to see #littleshopofhorrors in NYC!’
