EXCLUSIVE: Blumhouse-Atomic Monster announced has appointed Sam Zimmerman as Senior Vice President, Development and Acquisitions, to oversee a focused slate of feature films from emerging filmmakers.
Zimmerman will report to Abhijay Prakash, President of Blumhouse, and Michael Clear, President of Atomic Monster. He will remain based in New York City and work across Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, partnering closely with filmmakers at the earliest stages of their careers. The role formalizes and expands the companies’ commitment to identifying distinct voices in genre storytelling and supporting films across a range of budgets, including projects made for under $5M. He will work closely with the company’s recently announced Divide/Conquer overall deal as well as other Blumhouse-Atomic Monster partners to build upon its traditional area of strength.
“Sam has exceptional taste, deep relationships in the genre community, and a track record of championing filmmakers with singular visions,” said Clear. “This initiative will serve to reinforce the company’s core values while also allowing us to engage with filmmakers earlier, support them meaningfully, and foster a community of emerging voices.”
