(NewsNation) — Shoppers hoping to return unwanted gifts this Christmas should be mindful of fast-approaching deadlines.
To lessen the pressure a little bit, major brands, including Best Buy, Macy’s, and Walmart, have extended their return policies.
Holiday gift return deadlines
- Amazon’s return policy depends on the product. Be sure to check the details for the item purchased or contact the seller directly.
- Best Buy extended its holiday return window to Jan. 14, according to the store’s website. Holiday decorations must be returned within 15 days of purchase.
- Macy’s extended its holiday return window to Jan. 31, according to the store’s website.
- Target’s general return policy is 90 days. There are specific policies for the electronics bought during the holidays, which must be returned within 30 days. All Apple and Beats products (including mobile phones) must be returned/exchanged within 14 days.
- Walmart extended its holiday return window to Jan. 31, according to the store’s website. Most items bought between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 can be returned until Jan 31. or 90 days from purchase.

When preparing to return your holiday gifts, Consumer Reports advises shoppers bring a physical ID and all receipts, the U.S. Sun reports.
To avoid losing paper receipts, consider having the store email them to you. Additionally, avoid opening boxes or removing tags.
