Three suspects wanted for organized retail theft out of Camarillo were taken into custody after a dangerous high-speed chase in Ventura County on Wednesday.
It’s unclear when exactly the suspects were spotted at the Camarillo Outlets, located at 740 Ventura Boulevard, but deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department were chasing the dark-colored Mercedes sedan shortly before 4:30 p.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway.
After traveling onto northbound lanes of the 23 Freeway and later eastbound on the 118 Freeway, the driver, wearing what appeared to be a pink-colored shirt, was clocked at speeds of more than 115 miles per hour.
The driver also appeared to clip at least one, possibly two vehicles, likely causing a front wheel to come off the vehicle, forcing the driver to pull off the freeway where the three suspects attempted to flee on foot.
Aerial footage from Sky5 captured the suspects jumping a fence and hiding in a shed in the backyard of a residence in the 2500 block of Woodhaven Court in Simi Valley.
As VCSO deputies searched the abandoned vehicle off the 118 Freeway, officers with Moorpark and Simi Valley police departments responded to the cul-de-sac where the home and shed were located.
Eventually, three law enforcement officers, guns drawn and a shield forward, approached the backyard, opened the gate and then backed away, allowing the three suspects to exit the shed and surrender without further incident.
