A pair of suspects were apprehended when officers pulled them over while responding to a separate retail theft robbery in Upland Monday night.
The officers were responding to a reported theft near Foothill Boulevard and Euclid Avenue when they stopped a car that matched the suspect vehicle description, the Upland Police Department posted on X, formerly Twitter, Tuesday.
“Upon contacting the two in the car, they did NOT match the suspects we were looking for, however, having an open beer and meth pipe in the cup holders caught our attention,” the Police Department’s post stated.
Several brand-new fragrance boxes were also found scattered around the car, police said.
“The officers determined the two men had just stolen the items from the same business that had called them about the other theft. Turns out these two just committed a theft as well (from the same business) and had bad timing for them – or good timing for us,” the post read.
The suspects were not identified but both were booked into a San Bernardino County jail.
