WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) said a Reston, Va. man was sentenced Friday for his role in a drug trafficking operation that ran a cocaine delivery service throughout Northwest D.C.
Dusan Dimic, 41, used Zipcars, rental cars and privately owned vehicles to make deliveries.
The USAO said that in August 2022, members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) began investigating the service.
Undercover law enforcement agents conducted 14 purchases of narcotics from Dimic’s accomplice.
During that time, Dimic was either the driver or would arrange a driver for the co-conspirator.
During the sales, Dimic frequently sat in the driver’s seat, with his accomplice in the passenger’s seat and the undercover agent in the back seat.
On Sept. 21, 2023, just before 5:30 p.m., law enforcement arrested Dimic and his accomplice.
Officials recovered 90 grams of cocaine from his driver’s side floorboard, a small blue bag with Dimic’s identification cards, his cell phone and over $2,000 in cash.
Officials said they recovered just under $4,500 in cash, 483 grams of cocaine and a medicine bottle with 90 grams of methamphetamine pills from the co-defendant.
The USAO said Dimic and his co-conspirators sold an average of 56 grams of cocaine per day over the course of a year.
On Nov. 12, 2024, Dimic pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and related charges.
He was sentenced on Feb. 28 of this year to 41 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
