A Shohei Ohtani autographed card from his historic 2024 season has set a new record, becoming the first of the Los Angeles Dodgers star’s cards to sell for over $1 million.
The one-of-a-kind card features the MLB logo from the pants Ohtani wore during the September 19th game when he became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. The card sold at Heritage Auctions early Sunday morning for $1.067 million.
This sale shattered the previous record for an Ohtani card, which was $533,140 for a 2018 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autographs Orange Refractor card.
The card is part of Topps’ Dynasty Black series, commemorating Ohtani’s unprecedented achievements. The series includes three unique 1-of-1 cards: one with a batting glove swatch, another combining swatches of pants and gloves, and the record-breaking card featuring the MLB logo from Ohtani’s game-used pants.
