(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday launching a new initiative to address drug addiction and substance abuse in the country.
Per a White House fact sheet obtained by CBS News, the “White House Great American Recovery Initiative” will advise federal agencies to issue grants in support of addiction recovery and education.
The panel, which will reportedly be chaired by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kathryn Burgum, will advise the federal government on how to integrate programs to aid with drug abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery and support.
Kathryn Burgum, wife of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, has dealt with alcoholism and is an advocate for addiction recovery. A White House official confirmed to CBS that she will attend Thursday’s announcement.
