Popular Next baby clothing is urgently recalled over ‘choking hazard’ as brand ‘truly sorry’

A SELECTION of luxury baby clothing has been urgently recalled over choking fears.

The alarm was sounded after it was discovered that there was an issue with the poppers on nine Jojo Maman Bébé garments.

Next has apologized for the blunder and has urged customers to return the products immediately.

The faulty clothing includes a floral cord dress, floral cord dungarees, a cherry printed dungarees and top set, a fairy mouse cord dress, and a cord bubble romper and body set.

There are also concerns with the embroidered cord dungarees and top set, a Gruffalo cord romper, and a herringbone dungarees and top set.

Next told customers: “We have identified products within the JoJo Maman Bébé where there is a problem with the way the poppers used for fastenings were attached.

“This could lead to either a part of the popper being accessible – leading to a scratch risk, or for them to become detached from the product – which could present a choking hazard.

“We take the safety of all our products very seriously. On this occasion, these products have fallen below our strict technical and safety standards, and as such we have taken the decision to issue a recall.

“We are truly sorry for any worry or inconvenience this may cause. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out to our customer service team on 0333 777 8000.”

Next urged shoppers to contact its customer service team to organise a return and full refund.

The product numbers are: H15846, H16250, W26846, F87393, H15199, H15210, H15189 and B22314.

Meanwhile, Primark has urgently recalled a water toy over fears of it exploding.

The high street retailer issued an urgent recall about their Water Balloon Pump toy product after it was found to not meet ‘usual high safety standards’.

They claim a manufacturing fault means there is a risk the pink and blue water balloon pumps might rupture and hurt those playing with them.

Primark explained that when the ‘faulty’ product is used to pump up a balloon the filling pressure increases and can rupture, posing a risk of ‘physical injury’ to a customer.

The popular chain posted about the recall on their website on September 17 this year after the product was sold between January 2023 and September 2023.

The affordable clothing shop has warned customers to stop using the product immediately and return it to any Primark store without needing proof of purchase.

Another recent recall includes the Evenflo Revolve360 Slim car seats, which pose a choking hazard.

It was discovered that children could be able to reach inside the headrest cushion and pull out the foam from inside.

Only certain Revolve360 Slim models are affected.

These are the seats with model numbers beginning in 3681.

The number can be found on a white label at the back of the seat’s shell, which is visible when the chair is rotated to the side.

Other versions of the Revolve360 Slim, including those starting with CS2601 or 3682, are not part of the recall.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item
