Police searching for a British businessman who has been missing for more than a week in Kenya have recovered the body of strangled man from shrubland, according to reports.
Campbell Scott, a senior director at credit scoring firm Fico, was on a business trip to attend a conference at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi.
But the 58-year-old, who was born in Dunfermline, Fife, has not been seen by colleagues since February 16.
On Saturday, animal herders discovered a body in a green sack in the Makongo forest, around 60 miles southeast of the capital.
The deceased man appears to have been strangled, according to reports, with the body taken to a local hospital for identification.
It was reported last week that senior detectives had been drafted in to try to find the missing man and that Interpol had been asked for assistance to help access Mr Scott’s call records to find out who may have called him before he went missing.
Mr Scott checked into his hotel room at around 1pm on Saturday, but left an hour later.
Local media reported security camera footage showed Mr Scott dressed in cargo pants and a blue shirt, seemingly relaxed and jovial, waving at staff at the hotel before walking out.

He returned at around 4pm, with footage showing him exchanging pleasantries with the hotel’s security guards before walking back to his room.
The next day he left at around 11.15am, with colleagues reportedly believing he was going for a walk to shake off his jet lag and assumed that he would be back for lunch.
But a colleague was unable to reach him on his UK registered phone number at 6pm, and by 7pm the worried workmate decided to notify hotel management, who advised him to call the police.
That night a search for Mr Scott was launched, but by Monday senior detectives had taken over.
A close friend said: ‘We don’t know any more than what has been reported, and have been told nothing else. It’s so worrying. He is the kindest person in the world, he will do anything for anyone.’
Mr Scott’s online CV said he attended Woodmill High School in Dunfermline before going on to study business.
In October 2014 he started working at Fico – an American data analytics company known for its credit scoring services – as its director of product management.
In December 2020 he was promoted to the senior director of product management at the company, and is currently based at its London office.

After arriving at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi’s city centre (pictured) on Sunday, Scott was last seen when he left the hotel at around 11.15am on Sunday
The company website said he had more than 25 years’ experience in data management, and he is responsible for the global regulatory and compliance product management with Fico.
Fico said in a statement before the discovery of the body: ‘Fico is working with our local partners and local authorities to investigate the matter.
‘Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends. Please respect his privacy and do not speculate about this situation.
‘If anyone has information that may be helpful regarding his whereabouts, please contact local authorities or the Metropolitan Police.’
The Foreign Office said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.’
