First responders rushed to the Fullerton Airport Friday afternoon following reports of a plane that crashed shortly after landing.

The single-engine Cessna crash was reported around 1:05 p.m., according to the emergency alert app PulsePoint.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration told KTLA that the plane landed and overshot the runway, hitting lighting fixtures and crashing into fencing at the airport, which is located on the 4000 block of West Commonwealth Avenue.

The pilot was the only person on board, the FAA confirmed. Their condition was not immediately clear.

Video from Sky5 at the scene showed little activity in or around the airport by 1:30 p.m.

Earlier this year, an experimental aircraft crashed into the roof of a warehouse near the Fullerton Airport, killing the father and daughter occupants and injuring 19 workers at the facility.

In November, two people narrowly avoided serious injury when their plane crashed into a tree near the same airport.

Within minutes of this emergency incident in Orange County, a plane made an emergency landing at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. The three occupants of that small plane were uninjured.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the circumstances leading up to both of these unexpected emergencies. The preliminary results of the FAA investigation will be posted on its website, typically within 48 hours of the initial report.
