WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Fire and rescue crews were working to put out a large brush fire in Northwest D.C. on Sunday afternoon.
In a post made on X shortly before 4 p.m., DC Fire and EMS (DCFD) said at least two acres were involved in the area of Beach Drive and Park Road NW. DCFD requested a tanker and additional brush unit from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service to also respond.
The terrain was reportedly steep as firefighters worked to establish a perimeter around what was described as a “large woods fire.”
As of 4:20 p.m., about a dozen units were at the scene.
No one was hurt, according to officials.
The intersection of Beach Drive and Park Road was closed to traffic. Commuters were advised to use alternate routes and avoid the area.
