As Netflix launches its first original video podcast with Pete Davidson, SAG-AFTRA has stepped in to negotiate on behalf of the comedian’s show.

With The Pete Davidson Show establishing a new format for Netflix and other streaming platforms, the union reached out to the streamer to determine whether the show would be considered TV or a podcast, and agree on a suitable deal.

“SAG-AFTRA and Netflix have executed a podcast agreement covering The Pete Davidson Show,” a SAG spokesperson told Deadline, although they did not provide clarity on details of the deal.

Last month, Deadline reported that the original video podcast is launching on Netflix on Jan. 30, marking the company’s move into the podcast space after launching several third party shows, including The Bill Simmons Podcast, 3 and Out with John Middlekauff, Rich Paul’s Pardon My Take, Spittin’ Chiclets, The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, The Ringer NBA Show, The Ringer NFL Show, The Ryen Russillo Podcast and The Zach Lowe Show this week.

The Pete Davidson Show will be exclusive to Netflix, meaning that it will not appear on any other platforms including audio versions on the Apple podcast app.

Directed by Sarah Brennan Kolb, The Pete Davidson Show is produced by Marc Lieberman, president of Above Average, the digital arm of Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.
