HYATTSVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — The Hyattsville Police Department is investigating after a man shot at someone and stole their backpack in the parking lot of a Capital One Bank in Hyattsville on Saturday night.
According to the department, the shooting took place at around 5:45 p.m. in the 6400 block of Belcrest Road.
A person was walking through the bank’s parking lot with a backpack after visiting the ATM when a suspect, wearing a dark top and a white ski mask, drove up and went after them.
The person dropped their backpack before the suspect shot at them three times, striking them once in the leg, according to police. The suspect then fled in a black sedan with the bag.
Responders took the victim, who was conscious and breathing, to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
