WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A person was hospitalized after a fire broke out in an apartment unit in Northwest D.C. on Friday night.
DC Fire and EMS (DCFD) were dispatched to the 3400 block of 13th Street NW at 9:37 p.m. About 12 units and 60 officials responded to a fire in a second-floor apartment.
A person was found and rescued by firefighters but sustained life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition, a spokesperson confirmed with DC News Now.
DCFD was challenged by clutter conditions within the burning apartment, the spokesperson noted.
As of 10:26 p.m., the fire was under control.
