WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — People are stocking up on winter supplies ahead of the winter storm.
One item is hotter than others.
“I came today because I needed some ice melt,” customer Sondra Raspberry said.
She bought some at the Petworth ACE Hardware Store Monday to protect herself and her neighbors.
“I don’t want to slip on the steps and fall,” said Raspberry. “I don’t want any of my neighbors to fall on my walkway.”
The store has other things people may need, such as shovels and ice scrapers. Employees said this winter has been a bit busier than in recent years.
“So far, so good,” employee Zack Zackery said. “I mean, truthfully, just to even see some snow is a great thing, especially here in D.C. We don’t normally get snow.”
Ice melt is also a big seller at Logan Hardware in Logan Circle. Customers can also find other supplies to clear away the snow and ice. There are also items to keep people warm and even have fun in the winter weather if they choose.
“This winter is definitely a bit colder,” said Assistant Manager Logan Alder. “We’re definitely seeing more ice events, and we’re definitely seeing a bit more snow storms as well.”
Hardware stores are ready for the latest round of winter weather.
