AN 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pensioner died following an assault.
The man was assaulted on Aberford Road in Garforth, Leeds, just after 6.30pm yesterday, said cops.
West Yorkshire Police said the victim was rushed to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.
A force spokesperson said the 18-year-old suspect remained in police custody.
Detectives are now carrying out “extensive enquiries” into the circumstances of the death.
Cops asked anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

A full statement from West Yorkshire Police said: “Officers were called at 6.35pm yesterday (29 October) by the ambulance service that a 79 year old man had been assaulted.
“He was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.
“An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
“Detectives from the Homicide and major Enquiry team are carrying out extensive enquiries.
