Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the 110 Freeway in central L.A. Saturday.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a pedestrian lying down on the freeway’s southbound lanes just north of First Street at around 6:30 a.m.
The pedestrian had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the victim was likely present on the freeway lanes before any vehicles approached them. They were eventually struck by an oncoming Honda Civic and possibly by several other vehicles, CHP officials said.
Details on how the person ended up on the freeway remain unclear. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the Honda Civic remained at the scene. No further details were released as the deadly incident remains under investigation.
