A fatal crash involving a pedestrian on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim prompted lane closures early Thursday morning.
The incident was reported shortly after 2:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway at Gene Autry Way near Katella Avenue.
The pedestrian was apparently struck by a vehicle while walking on the right shoulder of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident log.
The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials closed the two right lanes of the freeway while they conducted an investigation and waited for the Orange County coroner to arrive. The log says the vehicle involved did pull over following the crash.
No further details about the crash were immediately available.
The freeway lanes were reopened shortly after 4:30 a.m.
