WASHINGTON — More than 22,000 peanut butter products are under recall in 40 states due to a “foreign material” contamination, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
California-based supplier Ventura Foods LLC is recalling single-serve peanut butter and peanut butter and jelly products distributed under foodservice and DYMA Brand labels. The FDA said the recall began after the firm found pieces of blue plastic in a filter during production.
The recall was originally initiated in April 2025 and was recently upgraded to Class II by the FDA on Feb. 12.
According to the agency, a Class II recall is “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
While the recalled items were sold under multiple brand names, representatives for Ventura Foods LLC told multiple media outlets that these products were not sold directly to consumers. Ventura Foods serves foodservice, retail, concession, and more across the United States, according to its website.
The recalled items include creamy peanut butter packets in sizes ranging from 0.5 ounce to 0.75 ounce and 1.12 ounce. Additionally, the recall includes twin packs combining creamy peanut butter with strawberry jam, available in 1.12-ounce and 1-ounce cups, and twin packs combining creamy peanut butter with grape jelly, in 1.12-ounce and 1-ounce cups.
