As a slew of famous faces prepare to take part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Paul Gascoigne has revealed why he won’t be one of this year’s campmates.
The former footballer, 57, has admitted he missed out on a stint in the Australian jungle after failing the psychiatrist test five times.
Gazza, who has been in and out of rehab due to alcohol-related problems since retiring, even admitted to attending one of the evaluations after taking cocaine.
Although the ITV series has repeatedly turned him down, he did take part in Italy‘s version, Isola de Famosi in 2021 – which is not affiliated with the UK show.
Speaking in a new interview, Gazza said that although producers have tried to get him on the series, he hasn’t yet made it past the tests.

Speaking on stage at An Evening With Gascoigne, in lines obtained by The Sun, he said: ‘You had to see a psychiatrist. If you pass the psychiatrist’s test, you’re in. I failed five f***ing times!
‘And to be honest, the first time I went to see her I was on cocaine, so she must have f***ing knew.
‘Second time I told her to f*** off. Third time never wanted to f***ing see her again so didn’t really go down too well.’
Paul admitted that he is sometime glad he missed out as he suffers from claustrophobia and is scared of snakes.
I’m A Celebrity will return to screens on November 17th with a star-studded line-up, with Coleen Rooney and Maura Higgins set to head into the jungle.
Gazza’s stint on the Italian reality show came to an unfortunate ending when he was forced to bow out of his appearance after enduring persistent shoulder pain.
The football legend left the sunny shores of Cayos Cochinos, Honduras after he could be seen gripping his arm in pain after completing an assault course with his fellow islanders.
Although returning to the island with his arm in a sling he was forced to bow out for good when the injury prevented him from taking part in any of the physical games.

The media personality is reportedly to have been paid around 7,000 euros (£5,981) for each week he took part in the show.
During his one month stint, Paul caught the eye for other reasons, when he made history by becoming the first contestant to sunbathe naked on the Italian show.
The former footballer opted for full comfort as he soaked up the sun on the beach, during which he ditched his arm brace after dislocating his shoulder.
As the episode aired, celebrity guests Iva Zanicchi and Elettra Lamborghini alongside presenter Ilary Blasi noted how impressed they found his laid back attitude despite the high tensions – while also stating: ‘What a body!’
