PARIVISION and Gaimin Gladiators advanced to the quarterfinals of the BLAST Slam I with victories Thursday in Copenhagen, Denmark.
PARIVISION rallied for a 2-1 victory over HEROIC and will face Team Liquid in Friday’s quarters. Gladiators swept Team Falcons 2-0 and will draw Xtreme Gaming in the next round.
The 10 teams in the $1 million Dota 2 event were divided into two groups for the opening round-robin phase of single-map matches.
The top team in each group (BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports) earned berths in the playoff semifinals. The second-place teams (Team Liquid and Xtreme Gaming) qualified directly into the quarterfinals. The third-place teams (PARIVISION and Gaimin Gladiators) secured Round 2 places in the playoffs, and the fourth- and fifth-place teams started the playoffs in Round 1.
All playoff matches are best-of-three except for the best-of-five final on Sunday. The winning team will receive $400,000, and the runner-up will earn $200,000.
On Thursday, HEROIC opened with a 60-minute victory on red before PARIVISION countered with 30- and 42-minute wins, also playing on red. Volodymyr “No(o)ne-” Minenko of Ukraine posted an average kills-deaths-assists ratio of 10.3-3.7-9.3 to lead PARIVISION.
Gaimin Gladiators outlasted Team Falcons in 67 minutes on green before securing the sweep with a 37-minute win on red. American Quinn “Quinn” Callahan averaged a 7.5-3.0-13.5 K-D-A ratio for GG.
