Pamela Anderson has admitted that she ‘begged her sons for forgiveness’ after being ‘sexualised’ during her career.
The Baywatch star, 57, shares two sons with ex-husband Tommy Lee, Brandon Thomas, 28, and Dylan Jagger, 27.
Pamela was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in drama The Last Showgirl – which tells the tale of a middle-aged Las Vegas showgirl who is plunged into uncertainty when the show she has performed in for three decades announces it is closing.
But as she spoke about how she related to playing the role, a working mum and showgirl, she revealed the plot related to her in ways she hadn’t expected.
Asked about her relationship with co-star Billie Lourd, who plays her daughter, Pamela said: ‘I have two boys in this industry, and I think anytime your mother is sexualised in some way, even though in the moment when they’re young and you think, they’re young, it’s not going to hurt them, but it hurts them, and they carry it with them.
‘You will face your adult children, and beg for their forgiveness, because I’ve been there.’

She added: ‘We just do the best we can, and there’s no perfect way of being a parent. I felt there was so much there to discover, and it was good for both of us.
‘It’s even emotional to talk about it, and it was very cathartic making this film, because I got to pour my heart [into it] and look at things differently.’
She touched on the point back in December during a candid conversation with Mikey Madison as part of Variety‘s Actors on Actors segment.
When Mikey asked Pamela how she had prepared for her role of Shelly in The Last Showgirl, she replied: ‘I was able to bring a lot of my own personal experience, my long life of dealing with beauty and glamour and ageing and reassessing life choices.
‘I got to bring my whole life into this role. I think the past shouldn’t dictate your future. But looking back, I was always creating characters. And I feel like I know I’ve created a few Halloween costumes.
‘But a lot of the things I went through, I didn’t realise my kids were going through them at the same time,’ she continued, referring to her sons – Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26, whom she shares with her ex-husband Tommy Lee.
‘Being a working mom and being in this entertainment world and having your mom be sexualised in some way – I didn’t realise how difficult it was.’
She then added: ‘So I’m not ashamed of my life. I’m not ashamed of the choices that I made, even though maybe in hindsight I would’ve done things differently.

Playboy subsequently chose her as Playmate of the Month in their February 1990 issue, in which she appeared in the centrefold portrait.
She went on to make regular appearances on the magazine’s cover and also holds the record for the most Playboy covers by any individual.

Pamela is well known for flaunting her figure in the iconic red swimsuit and quickly became a pinup and sex symbol thanks to her Baywatch fame.
These days, the mother-of-two prefers to step out wearing hardly any makeup and opts for a much more natural look, even when attending red carpet events.
During a 2023 interview with ELLE, the Barb Wire star revealed the reason why she had started embracing her natural beauty.
She told the outlet that her perspective on beauty changed after the death of her makeup artist Alexis Vogel, who passed away from breast cancer in 2019.
‘[Alexis] was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,’ Pamela explained. She said that going without makeup has been ‘freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too.’
