MORE than half of voters think Labour is too busy policing people’s lives instead of tackling the cost-of-living crisis, new polling shows.
Over 50 per cent of Brits believe ministers spend more time trying to ban tobacco, tax alcohol and clamp down on adverts than helping struggling households.
Many also feel life under Labour has become less fun, with 56 per cent saying the Government has made things more miserable, according to the poll by Merlin Strategy for the Adam Smith Institute.
This includes 76 per cent of Conservatives, 36 per cent of Labour voters and 79 per cent of Reform supporters.
Tory MP Jack Rankin said: “This polling reflects something everyone knows but this Labour Government – our lives are being made more miserable through high taxes, more regulations, and woke politics.”
The poll also found that 37 per cent think the Government is fixated on trans ideology, while 22 per cent say it wastes time on foreign affairs.
Just 3 per cent believe Labour is not doing enough on nanny-state issues.
The survey comes as ministers open a consultation on banning vaping and heated tobacco in public.
A huge 97 per cent of voters also say the generational smoking ban – the plan to stop anyone born after 2009 from ever buying cigarettes – should not be a priority, with 19 per cent calling it the policy that deserves the least attention.
Overall, 57 per cent of voters say the plan is distracting the Government from tackling the cost-of-living crisis.
