The 97th Academy Awards, honoring the best films of 2024, are being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and KTLA is the place for everything the Red Carpet has to offer.
KTLA’s annual “Live from the Oscars” returned for 2025, with Jessica Holmes, Megan Henderson, Doug Kolk and Michael Yo getting the lowdown with Hollywood’s biggest stars before the ceremony begins. Scott “Movie” Mantz and Nikki Novak provided awards analysis and designer Nick Verreos gave his take on all the best Red Carpet looks.
Hosted by comedian and podcaster Conan O’Brien, the ceremony was broadcast live on ABC and, for the first time, streamed on Hulu.
Among the big name films expected to take away awards Sunday night were the Catholic Church-inspired drama “Conclave,” the Mikey Madison-led drama “Anora,” and movie musicals “Wicked” and “Emilia Pérez.”
Madison is among the favorites in the Best Actress category for her star-turning performance in “Anora,” but she’ll have strong competition from Demi Moore, whose powerhouse performance in “The Substance” has returned her back to the top of the Hollywood hierarchy; Fernanda Torres, star of the Portuguese political drama “I’m Still Here” could be the Cinderella story of the evening.
In the Best Actor category, “Conclave” Ralph Fiennes has been nominated for his third Academy Award, but all eyes are on Adrien Brody for his commanding performance in “The Brutalist.”
KTLA’s “Live from the Oscars” special was available on KTLA 5, and streaming live on KTLA.com and the free KTLA+ app on your smart device. The 97th Academy Awards ceremony begins at 4 p.m.
