Two auto theft suspects were arrested in Orange County after they were tracked down using Apple AirPods.

The suspects, both from Texas, were identified as Steve Vorrath, 30, of Georgetown, and Marcel George Urban, 34, of Corpus Cristi, according to the Irvine Police Department.

On Feb. 1, Irvine police received a call from a victim whose Volkswagen Beetle had been stolen.

The victim left their AirPods inside the vehicle and was using the headphones’ location tracking capabilities to watch the suspects’ every move.

Police followed the device’s location to the University Park Center shopping plaza near Michelson and Culver Drives where they spotted the stolen car with the suspects still inside.

Bodycam footage showed officers approaching the two men near an outdoor dining area as they were ordered out of the car and taken into custody.

They were both transported to the Orange County Jail and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime.
