Santa Margarita soccer goalie Peyton Trayer discovered “everything and more” she wanted in a collegiate program in national powerhouse North Carolina.
The junior recently committed to the Tar Heels to highlight a flurry of high-profile college announcements by Orange County girls soccer standouts.
“It was everything and more I wanted in a school,” Trayer said of North Carolina, which has won a record 22 NCAA championships. “(I liked) the coaches, the girls, the campus. Most importantly, they have a drive and passion that I’ve never seen in any other school.”
“It shows in all the success that they’ve had but also their values haven’t changed,” she added. “I’m looking forward to seeing more Tar Heel accomplishments.”
Trayer has earned All-County honors the past two seasons at Santa Margarita.
As a freshman, she was selected first-team All-County and CIF-SS Division 1 player of the year after helping the Eagles capture Division 1 and CIF Southern California Regional championships.
Last season, Trayer again made first-team All-County. Santa Margarita finished as the CIF-SS Division 1 runner-up and won another regional title.
