A Los Angeles County firefighter was hospitalized after being injured by an oncoming train on Sunday night.
According to fire officials, the crew member was helping battle the flames that engulfed a storage unit near the train tracks in Pico Rivera when he was injured.
L.A. County Fire said it happened during the response to a 10:13 p.m. call for a commercial fire near Cord Avenue and Rivera Road. Unconfirmed reports say a pile of railroad ties caught fire.
While the firefighter was working to extinguish the blaze, an oncoming train ran over his firehose and inadvertently injured him. No further details were immediately provided.
Details are limited, but officials told KTLA that the crew member suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
As of 11:45 p.m. Sunday, the firefighter remains in unknown condition.
The fire was knocked down around 10:54 p.m. without other structures being affected, and officials reported no other injuries.
