After the first batch of play-in tournament games, the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s possible Round 1 opponents have dwindled to just three teams.
The Golden State Warriors captured the seventh seed with a 121-116 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament on Wednesday. They will face the second-seed Houston Rockets in their Round 1 matchup.
Late-game dramatics saw Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler hit big-time shots both from the field and at the free-throw line. Curry finished with 37 points and Butler had 38 points. They did so without Draymond Green down the stretch as he fouled out.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies were led by Ja Morant and Desmond Bane. Bane had 30 points while Morant only had 22 points as he dealt with an ankle injury in the second half. They will play in an elimination game on Friday against the winner of the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings play-in tournament game on Wednesday.
The Thunder won’t find out until Friday night who their Round 1 opponent is. They will host the eighth seed on Sunday afternoon for Game 1 of their playoff series. Regardless of who it is from the three teams, OKC should enter as heavy favorites.
