California Highway Patrol officers arrested a suspect and two other passengers following a pursuit in Los Angeles County.
CHP confirmed to KTLA that the driver was initially wanted for speeding.
Once officers were in pursuit, the suspect vehicle was seen driving in the break lane to get around traffic.
The driver later stopped their car on southbound Highway 101 at Vermont Avenue in East Hollywood around 5:30 p.m. but refused to come out, roll down the windows or listen to commands.
Officials were seen diverting traffic, ultimately shutting down southbound 101 while working to apprehend the driver.
Sky5 was overhead, and around 5:50 p.m., KTLA’s Gil Leyvas reported seeing officers draw their guns and deploy spike strips around the stopped car.
About 20 minutes after the car initially stopped, officers were seen throwing what appeared to be pepper balls at the vehicle, which then made the driver drop their keys and come out of the car.
After officers put the driver in handcuffs, a passenger in the suspect vehicle came out and was ordered to walk backward, with their hands up, toward law enforcement.
Once they were in custody, one more passenger exited the car – this time from the back of the vehicle – and was also detained.
Sky5 captured the miles-long traffic build-up on southbound 101 at 6 p.m. as officers
