An officer was bitten overnight by a man being placed into custody in the West Loop, Chicago police said.
About 12:20 a.m., officers responded to a call of a theft and found a 33-year-old man in possession of an item that belonged to a victim at the scene. When officers attempted to arrest the man he bit one of them on the shoulder, police said.
The injured officer was taken to an area hospital and listed in good condition. The suspect was also taken to the same hospital as a precaution and was also reported in good condition, police said.
Charges against the suspect are pending.
