Beecher

HOUSING SCAM: A Beecher woman accused of defrauding renters looking for a home in June was arrested Jan. 16 on a no-bond warrant charging her with theft, according to police and Will County court records online. Minelly D. Pena, 38, 200 block of Sunset Boulevard, allegedly swindled the would-be renters on June 22, 25 and 29, court records show.

Burbank

ALTERED CHECK: Tenyka M. Ollie, 39, Chicago, is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Bridgeview Jan. 30 charged with forgery after allegedly depositing a $9,016 check at Corporate America Credit Union’s Burbank branch, 7021 79th St., Nov. 18 and then writing checks to deplete the account, according to police and a court spokesperson. Credit union officials told police the original payee’s information had been removed from the $9,016 check, replaced with Ollie’s information.

Chicago Heights

GUN POSSESSION: A Burbank teen was arrested and accused of aggravated use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm after Cook County sheriff’s deputies recovered a loaded 9mm luger reported stolen from Pulaski County, Kentucky, during a Jan. 16 traffic stop on Chicago Road south of Lincoln Highway, sheriff’s police said. The 16-year-old was taken into custody and subsequently transferred to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, sheriff’s police said. The minimum age to legally own a gun in Illinois is 21.

Crete

DOMESTIC: James W. Massey, 47, 300 block of Milburn Ave., Crete, was ordered detained Jan. 21 in the Will County jail, charged with aggravated domestic battery/strangulation Jan. 19 in Crete, according to Will County court records online. He is scheduled to return to court Feb. 4, court records show.

Evergreen Park

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Manson Jackson, 34, Chicago told officers responding to a Jan. 15 suspicious subject call at a home in the 2600 block of 89th Place that he’d disconnected the security cameras and changed the locks for a relative renting the property, police said. But officers arrested Jackson on a burglary accusation after the owner said neither Jackson nor his relative had any reason to be there, police said.

Lansing

GUN POSSESSION: Xavier E. Peters, 26, 100 block of Indianwood Drive, Thornton, was arrested Dec. 30 and subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after officers recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun at 186th Street and Oakley Avenue and determined his gun owner’s permit was revoked, police said.

Oak Lawn

RIDESHARE ROBBERY: A woman said her purse was taken Jan. 8 at 95th Street and Cicero Avenue when she attempted to enter a car with an Uber sticker that she thought was her ride. The victim said one of the vehicle’s two masked occupants reached from the front and took the purse before the vehicle sped off, leaving her behind.

AGGRAVATED DUI: Christopher V. Smith, 44, Chicago, was charged with aggravated drunken driving Jan. 8 after refusing to take sobriety tests and officers determined his driver’s license was revoked due to a drunken-driving conviction, police said. Smith was also charged with improper turning, driving without proof of insurance and illegally transporting alcohol in the 9500 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

GUN POSSESSION: Terrance D. Eubanks, 25, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest after officers recovered a 9 mm pistol and loaded magazine Jan. 9 at Miami Inn & Suites, 9041 Cicero Ave., police said.

Park Forest

CANNABIS POSSESSION: Curtis D. Shaw, 25, Chicago, was arrested and accused of possessing 100-500 grams of cannabis Dec. 27 near the intersection of Minocqua and Miami streets after an officer recovered 158 grams of marijuana packaged in several bags, police said.

DEALING ALLEGED: Grant C. Crosby, 18800 block of May Avenue, Homewood, was arrested Jan. 7 and accused of possessing cannabis with intent to deliver after officers recovered seven resealable bags containing marijuana, seven cannabis vape pens and three packages of marijuana cigarettes on Western Avenue at Main Street, police said.

Steger

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Jonathan G. Grabowski, 25, 100 block of Cornwall Drive, Crete, who was accused of grabbing and scratching a Steger paramedic’s face and neck while being transported Aug. 4, made his first appearance in Will County court Jan. 17 following his arrest on a warrant, according to police and court records online.

GUILTY VERDICT: Jabari J. Jones-Cooper, 31, 3600 block of Union Avenue, Steger, was found guilty during a Jan. 14 bench trial of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, according to Will County records online. The Class 4 felony charge stemmed from a February 2022 gun possession investigation, court records show.
