It’s been quite a week for DK Metcalf.
On Sunday the wide receiver was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his introductory press conference, he revealed he popped the question to singer Normani.
“My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister’s Spring Break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring,” the two time Pro Bowler explained.
“Hold that rock up, baby,” he called over to the “Motivation” singer who was standing off to the side.
In the meantime, the Ole Miss alum is excited for the future.
“Don’t know too many more words other than great. Found a new home here, found a new fiancée and everything’s just falling in line, just the way God planned for it to be,” Metcalf said.
The couple have been romantically linked until 2022 and credit it all to another athlete-musical couple who helped play matchmaker: Steeler quarterback Russell Wilson and singer Ciara. The duo introduced the pair when Metcalf and Wilson both played for the Seahawks.
“[Russell] and I knew when we introed yall 3yrs ago .. love was truly in the air! Now yall gon be booed up for forever!!” she wrote in the caption. “This was the best news! [DK and Normani], we love yall so much!” Ciara wrote in a post to TikTok.
Normani, formerly of the girl group Fifth Harmony, is known for hits like “Love Lies” featuring Khalid and “Waves” featuring 6lack when she went solo in 2018.
