Multiple illegal street takeovers recorded in the San Fernando Valley overnight showed drivers doing wild stunts, with onlookers at one event even starting a large bonfire.
One of the incidents took place at Woodley Avenue and Vanowen Street in Van Nuys Monday night, where several cars were seen doing doughnuts as dozens of onlookers crowded the intersection.
The event eventually broke up when police arrived at the scene.
A fire erupted during another street takeover at Sepulveda Boulevard and Plummer Street in the North Hills neighborhood.
The illegal events were happening across the San Fernando Valley, “All throughout the night,” according to freelance media firm O.C. Hawk News.
Video from one of the locations showed at least one person being taken into custody, but it was unclear if any charges were filed.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has taken steps to increase penalties for people participating in and watching illegal street takeovers in hopes of reducing the number of events.
