WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Germantown, Maryland native DeAndre Jules is hoping to hear his name called in this year’s NFL Draft.
Jules played youth football in Germantown with the Germantown Panthers and the Montgomery Village Chiefs, before starring at Northwest high school under then-head coach Mike Neubeiser.
“Just being in Germantown for the majority of my life, it means a lot having guys that helped me grow up like coach Neubeiser, coach [Joseph] Hooks, my big cousin,” Jules said. “It would mean a lot just to represent them in a good way, doing my thing on the field in the league, having it be my dream. It would mean a lot just to represent Germantown and the whole state of Maryland.
Jules spent most of his six year college football career at Pittsburgh, before playing his final season in the SEC at South Carolina. Jules said he transferred to South Carolina to prove he could play at a school in what’s considered one of the top conferences in college football.
Jules missed part of the season due to injury at South Carolina, he finished his final year of college with 14 total tackles and a fumble recovery. Jules played for the Gamecocks in the Citrus Bowl. In his final season at Pitt in 2023, Jules posted a career best 24 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
“I’m an all-around player. I play 110 percent every snap. I don’t take rest downs,” Jules told DC News Now of his pitch to NFL teams. “I like to communicate with my teammates, I’m a good guy to have in the locker room.”
