(NewsNation) — NewsNation became the voice for all Americans in 2024 by focusing on the people behind the stories, taking on the issues that matter and bringing together all perspectives.
Through town halls and in-depth reporting, NewsNation met communities where they are across the country.
In 2024, NewsNation focused on the value of learning trades, as opposed to attending a four-year college or university, alongside “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe.
One American shared his journey during a NewsNation town hall in April, saying he left college after realizing the pride of learning a trade like his forefathers.
“My whole heritage has been based on working a skill, having trades,” Micheal Gamez told Rowe and NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. “That means a lot to me. Those are my heroes; my grandfather does that, and my dad does that, so I just said, ‘You know what? Now I’m out.’ … It is the land of the brave, and I got to be able to go out there and be brave enough to show that pride.”
NewsNation continued to put into focus brewing issues at the border, highlighting not only the plight of migrants coming to the U.S. but the challenges this posed to border patrol and state officials.
NewsNation took a ride with law enforcement officials at the U.S.-Mexico border, capturing four encounters on camera during one hour of live coverage.
During the “Dan Abrams Live” special episode, NewsNation reporters fanned out nationwide, reporting live on the border crisis and its impact on communities, education and crime rates. Teams used night-vision technology and a specially outfitted NewsNation border truck.
“It’s not going to be about the finger-pointing,” NewsNation’s Dan Abrams told viewers as he covered the southern border. The stories we bring will “hopefully make us all a little bit more informed about what is actually happening at our southern border, and maybe maybe even spur some change.”
NewsNation remained committed to covering two devastating hurricanes: Helene and Milton.
The team spoke to those who lost almost everything and the struggles they still face to rebuild.
During a crucial election year, NewsNation brought important voices together to have conversations on the issues that mattered to Americans and to agree and disagree with civility.
Commentators Bill O’Reilly and Stephen A Smith joined Cuomo in a town hall along with Mark Cuban, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Sarah Palin, Rep. Ro Khanna, UFC President Dana White and Geraldo Rivera to discuss a slew of topics.
Vice-president elect JD Vance also joined Cuomo in another town hall where voters could ask questions through social media and engage with the then-candidate.
No matter what side of the aisle Americans fell on, their voice mattered at NewsNation in 2024.
