Something of an east coast bagel invasion is about to hit Southern California.
PopUp bagels, originally launched as a backyard bagel pickup window amid the pandemic and now has brick-and-mortar locations in New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut, has announced plans to open 35 locations across this portion of the Golden State, according to multiple media reports.
The company has reportedly struck a deal with backers that plan to bring 25 of the bagel hotspots to L.A. and Orange counties and another 10 to San Diego County later this year, Global Newswire reported.
While exact locales and dates have not yet been announced, the business outlet reported that PopUp Bagels are generally about 1,100 square feet and located in vibrant areas with lots of foot traffic.
With a motto of “Grip, Rip and Dip,” the chain’s focus is bagels made in-house, served whole in numerous varieties and meant to be dunked in spreads like scallion cream cheese, original cream cheese, began cream cheese and butter, according to Eater L.A.
The still hot bagels come in sets of three, six and a dozen, with a set of three and one spread currently clocking in at $13.00.
The “Not famous but known” bagel company, according to its website, has won “Best Bagel” at Brooklyn Bagelfest two years in a row.
“California just got a whole lot seedier,” the company posted to Instagram.
