Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris (Uncoupled) has been cast in the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection in the guest starring role of “Lowell.” Production on the Dexter: New Blood followup series kicked off in January in New York and is set to premiere this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime.
Showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips has been stacking up the cast led by Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer Dexter Morgan. Harris joins the previously announced returning stars David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan and James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan. New additions also include Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva and Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera.
Dexter: Original Sin, the franchise’s first prequel series, recently concluded its 10-episode first season and is currently available to stream. Led by Patrick Gibson in the role of young and up and coming serial killer Dexter Morgan who begins an internship at Miami Metro alongside his father Harry Morgan (Christian Slater). Together, they navigate the murky waters of good vs. evil while keeping it a secret from Debra Morgan (Molly Brown), Dexter’s sister who is in desperate need of her family’s attention and affection.
The show premiered in December, becoming the most streamed global original series for the network in ten years. The season finale aired in February and scored 2.68M global viewers, the most streamed episode of the season, according to Showtime.
Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Nurse Jackie), who also returns to serve as showrunner, and produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) also serves as executive producer along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Marcos Siega (Dexter: New Blood) serving as producing director. Monica Raymund (Dexter: Original Sin) is set to direct four episodes with Siega directing six episodes for the series. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
