(NEXSTAR) – The NASCAR Cup Series is heading to the Phoenix Raceway this weekend.
It’s the first of two events. All of the drivers will make a single lap run with the overall lap times deciding the starting lineup. This year there will only be one round, and it doesn’t matter which group the drivers are in to set the starting lineup.
Katherine Legge will also become the first woman in a NASCAR Cup Series race since Danica Patrick back in 2018.
“Entering the NASCAR Cup Series is a dream come true,” said Legge. “Racing stock cars has been an incredibly fun and new challenge that’s given me a renewed sense of vigor for this sport. As always, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do what I love and am inspired by all of the effort, preparation and behind the scenes work it takes to get here.”
Legge has four career victories in sports car racing.
NASCAR will return to Phoenix in the fall for the season finale.
