WASHINGTON (DC News Now) – The 2025 WNBA Draft has officially wrapped up in New York City, and the Washington Mystics made some noise on draft night. Armed with three first-round picks — the 3rd, 4th, and 6th overall — Washington added a trio of highly accomplished college stars to its roster, setting the stage for an exciting new era in D.C.
No. 3 Overall: Sonia Citron – Guard, Notre Dame
With the 3rd overall pick, the Mystics selected Sonia Citron, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Notre Dame. Citron comes to the WNBA after an impressive collegiate career, earning All-ACC honors for three consecutive seasons. She burst onto the national scene, her freshman year earning the ACC’s top newcomer in 2022. This past season, she averaged 14 points, just under six rebounds, and nearly three assists per game for the Fighting Irish.
No. 4 Overall: Kiki Iriafen – Forward, USC
Right behind her at No. 4, Washington picked up Kiki Iriafen, a 6-foot-3 forward from USC. Iriafen averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during the season and gained national attention for her 36-point, 9-rebound explosion in the NCAA Tournament after star teammate JuJu Watkins went down with a leg injury. While at Stanford, Iriafen earned the 2024 Katrina McClain Award as the nation’s top power forward.
No. 6 Overall: Georgia Amoore – Point Guard, Kentucky
With the 6th overall pick, the Mystics selected point guard Georgia Amoore. After a standout career at Virginia Tech, Amoore transferred to Kentucky for her final year of eligibility. Amoore racked up over 2,300 points and 800 assists in her collegiate career.
Mystics add two more in later rounds
In the second round (23rd overall), the Mystics drafted Lucy Olsen, a guard from Iowa, and in the third round (32nd overall), they selected Zaay Green, a guard out of Alabama.
