WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Hagerstown Fire Department (HFD) said nine train cars derailed on Sunday afternoon in Hagerstown.
The HFD said that at around 3:30 p.m., units were alerted to the 300 block of South Burhans Boulevard for a train derailment.
Once they arrived, crews assessed the scene and found nine derailed cars. The derailment did not involve hazardous materials, and the train cars were empty, according to the HFD.
As of Sunday evening, CSX was working to upright the cars. The HFD said South Burhans Boulevard would likely close around the overpass at about 7 p.m.
