MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Several families were displaced after a fire damaged multiple townhomes in Montgomery Village early Friday morning.
In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services said crews responded to the 10200 block of Cove Ledge Court just before 4 a.m. for a two-alarm fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found large flames spreading from the back of a townhouse.
“It appears as though it started on the outside and extended up into the attic area,” said Piringer.

About 75 firefighters worked on the scene and crews assisted multiple people out of the building.
In an update around 6:45 a.m., Piringer said the fire was out; however, about 17 people were displaced and at least six homes were damaged. No one was hurt in the fire.
Ride-on buses arrived at the apartment complex and took families to a temporary shelter.
Investigators are working to determine what started the blaze.
As of Friday morning, Watkins Mill Road was blocked off between Apple Ridge Road and Stedwick Road as crews worked on the scene.
