‘Much-loved’ dad stabbed to death ‘in attempted burglary’ is pictured as family pay tribute & man charged with murder

A MUCH-loved father who was stabbed to death in an alleged burglary has been pictured as his family pays their tributes.

Cops have now charged a 28-year-old man with murder and aggravated burglary.

The first picture of Anthony Priestley, 53, has been released after he was stabbed to death at a home in Coventry on Tuesday, November 18.

West Midlands Police attended an address in Aldrich Avenue early around 4.15am on Tuesday morning.

Anthony was found at the home with serious injuries.

Sadly, nothing could be done to save him and he died at the scene.

Anthony’s family have released a photograph of Anthony smiling, with a tribute to the much-loved dad.

They said: “Anton, we loved you so much and we cannot imagine that we’re never going to see you again.

“Our love for you will never end.”

Anthony’s daughter had some touching words and added: “Thanks for all the lovely memories I have of you. Your loving daughter.”

Alexander Neilson, 28, was arrested at the time on suspicion of murder.

He has now been charged with murder and aggravated burglary.

Neilson will remain in custody and appear before Coventry Magistrates Court on Friday, November 21.

Police wrote in a statement following Anthony’s death: “His family is being supported by our specialist officers, and our thoughts are with them.

They remained at the scene to carry out enquiries on the evening he died, but were not looking for anyone else as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information into the incident or with dash cam footage or other footage from the area at the time has been asked to call 101 quoting log 418 of 18 November.
