The strange part about living in Los Angeles is that sometimes, you can’t tell what’s real or fake.
Some concerned citizens received a stark reminder of that on Thursday night, when what appeared to be a terrifying fire appeared on the top of a downtown L.A. high rise.
Several concerned people uploaded videos to the Citizen App and justifiably reported the blaze on the building on the corner of 5th and Bixle Streets to the Los Angeles Fire Department. However, as some L.A. residents have come to expect, it turns out that the fire was part of a production.
“We appreciate the concerned citizens calling BUT – the fire visible on the roof of 1201 W 5th x Bixel in #dtla is not real – it is part of a movie/tv shoot,” the department said in a post to X, formerly Twitter at 5:50 p.m. Thursday. “It is planned to be active until 3am. Please share the word!”
There was no immediate word on what exactly the production was.
