A person died in a head-on crash in Fullerton late Saturday night, police said.

A press release from the Fullerton Police Department states that officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West Commonwealth Avenue on a report of a two-vehicle collision at 10:50 p.m.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a 2004 Toyota Corolla and a 2009 Lexus RX350 with significant front-end damage.

Both vehicles had come to rest in the middle of the roadway, FPD said.

Responding paramedics rushed both drivers to a local trauma center, where the driver of the Toyota died.

Their identity has yet to be released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

The condition of the Lexus driver was not disclosed.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the gold Toyota was traveling west on West Commonwealth Avenue and the Lexus east on West Commonwealth when the Toyota veered into the eastbound lanes, causing a head-on collision,” Fullerton police said in their press release, which was issued Sunday morning. “At this stage of the investigation, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor related to the driver.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have more information is asked to contact Fullerton Police Department Traffic Accident Investigator Feaster by calling 714-738-6812. Information can also be emailed to [email protected].

Those wishing to provide information anonymously can do so by calling Orange County Crime Stoppers (1-855-847-6227) or visiting www.occrimstoppers.org
