The mother of a toddler seemingly abandoned at a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s station this morning has been located, authorities announced.
In a news release, officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the child was dropped off in front of the department’s Victorville Police Station at 14200 Amargosa Road just before 10:30 a.m.
Details are limited and the circumstances around the incident are developing, but authorities said the child was dropped off by a person, only described as a Black male adult, who was behind the wheel of a black older model sedan.
Before locating the child’s mother, authorities had reached out to the public in hopes of locating the parents.
Authorities did not say how they find the toddler’s mother, nor have they released any information about the child’s relationship to the man who left the little boy there.
An investigation into the situation is ongoing, authorities said, adding that anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Victorville Police Station at 760-241-2911 or San Bernardino County Sheriff’s dispatch at 760-956-5001.
