MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Two nonprofit groups in Montgomery County are teaming up to collect equipment for children who may not have the proper gear to participate in sports.
From now through March 31, Silver Spring Cares and Leveling the Playing Field are asking community members to donate new or gently used sports equipment.
They’re looking for gear for a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, football, soccer and lacrosse.
The goal of this initiative is to give every kid a chance to play no matter their background.
“Just working with an organization like Silver Spring Cares [is] definitely something that we always look forward to. We’re greatly appreciative of it,” said Leveling the Playing Field program director Phillip Williams. “We really love it when organizations reach out to us about doing collection or initiatives for us as well.”
All donations can be dropped off at the Go Brent Realty office in downtown Silver Spring.
