MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Officials said a firefighter was injured after they were hit by a vehicle while working on a crash on Interstate 495 in Montgomery County on Friday.
Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said around 3 a.m., crews were working on a crash on the interloop of the highway, between Colesville Road and University Blvd, when a passing vehicle hit firefighters and several Maryland State Police troopers.
One firefighter was taken to the trauma center for treatment. Their condition is unknown at this time.
Officials said state troopers and other firefighters are okay.
Drivers traveling on I-495 can expect delays as several lanes were blocked on Friday morning.
