An elderly woman who resides in Altadena has not been seen since the Eaton Fire destroyed the community, and authorities are asking the public for help in locating her.

96-year-old Elizabeth Jane Behny was last seen in the 2000 block of Pinecrest Drive in the unincorporated area of Altadena on Jan. 5 – two days before the Eaton Fire erupted — according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The area where Behny was last seen is approximately a mile away from where the Eaton Fire was first reported near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive.

LASD confirmed that Behny resided in a fire zone and may be displaced due to the fire that ravaged the community.

Widespread rain over the weekend could help or hurt Southern California

She is described as standing 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 92 pounds. What she was wearing last is unknown, and she requires a walker to get around.

Her family is concerned for her well-being, LASD said.

Anyone with information surrounding the whereabouts of Elizabeth Jane Behny is encouraged to contact LASD’s Missing Persons Unit by calling 323-890-5500.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477) or by visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org

As of Saturday morning, the Eaton Fire was 95% contained, having already scorched over 14,000 acres and incinerating thousands of structures, including historic homes and businesses.
