Dancer Miranda Derrick is opening up about the death threats she’s received after being featured in the Netflix documentary Dancing With the Devil.
The 27-year-old dancer was featured in the documentary, which debuted May 29, and shot back at claims that she was in a cult, calling the film ‘one-sided.’
Now she has taken to Instagram once again, though this time she’s detailing some of the harsh treatment she’s received since the film’s debut, including death threats.
She even placed some of the blame on her family, who participated in the documentary, stating she doesn’t understand why they thought it would help her.
She shared a video to her 1.7 million followers, which began, ‘Hey guys. I know I normally don’t make this kind of content, but I just wanted to be transparent and a little vulnerable with you.’
‘But before this documentary, my husband and I, we felt safe,’ she said, referring to her husband, choreographer James Derrick.

‘Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been put in danger,’ she said, while detailing the kinds of danger they have both been in.
‘We have both been followed in our cars, we have both received hate mail, death threats, people have been sending us messages to commit suicide,’ she adds, while showing some of the messages on the screen during the video.
She adds, ‘We’ve been stalked. Someone said, “If I see you on the street, I’m gonna come and gut you so better get security.’
‘Someone also said, “If I see you on the sidewalk, I’m gonna come and shove you in the trunk of my car,’ she said, adding these were just, ‘some of the messages I’ve been receiving behind-the-scenes.’
‘I honestly don’t understand how my parents and my sister thought that this documentary would help me or help our relationship in any way,’ Derrick added.
She added, ‘I have been getting together with my family for the past couple years, privately, to work on our relationship, to make things right, to mend what has been broken, and I’ve been loving it.’
‘I’ve been loving getting together, laughing, just enjoying each other’s company, and this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that,’ she added.
‘Honestly, I think that my parents, my sister, have focused so much on this documentary that they’ve forgotten working on any relationship with me. And that hurts, that hurts me to say,’ she admitted.

‘I’m going to be perfectly honest, it has been hard to post and do my content like nothing ever happened because that’s just not the case,’ Derrick added.
‘So if things are a little slower and I’m not posting as much, just bear with me, I’m getting through this, I see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m gonna get back to posting and dancing and doing what I just absolutely love,’ she said.
‘It just brings me so much joy, so I do want to get back to that,’ she said, adding she also wants to thank, ‘everyone who has been supportive,’ adding the kind words, ‘don’t go unnoticed.’
Miranda’s sister Melanie Wilking, who Miranda used to dance with as The Wilking Sisters on TikTok, went viral in 2022 when she took to Instagram Live with her parents, saying they haven’t spoken with Miranda in over a year.
Just last week, Miranda confused fans even more when she attended her sister’s wedding, just after claiming she wasn’t a victim of a cult.
Melanie also told Access Hollywood that, while Miranda claimed it was a ‘one-sided’ documentary, the filmmakers reached out to them ‘many times’ and they,’ declined every time.’
